PURPOSE:To make time of up to the first print of a back record shorter as well as to facilitate the recovery of contents of the page in case of the occurrence of a jam at the time of duplex recording, by making a duplex unit so as to have a mode for refeeding the paper stacked and another mode for refeeding the paper in succession without stacking it. CONSTITUTION:Identical duplex units 7 have two types of conveying modes. And, at the time of selecting a through mode, one-side recorded paper is delivered to paper refeeding without stacking these sheets of paper after being aligned ay an intermediate tray 44. Therefore, during this while it is unnecessary to do any movement of a jogger fence, and any operation of a pickup solenoid and a paper feed clutch, so that time of up to the first paper delivery is reducible. And, in the case where a paper jam occurs there at time of a back print in case of a stack mode, contents of both side prints of the paper have been inputted just before the jam, so that the contents are very easily recoverable.
