<p>PURPOSE:To shorten a frame drop period by separating and encoding a picture signal to luminance information and chrominance information and temporarily storing a buffer for luminance and a buffer for chrominance separately and transmitting only the luminance information when the quantity of encoded information is much. CONSTITUTION:A chrominance/luminance separating circuit 1 separates the digital picture signal 100 to a luminance signal 101a and a chrominance signal 101b, a parallel/serial converter 2 alternately transmits the luminance signal 101a and the chrominance signal 101b to an encoding circuit 3 and in the encoding circuit 3, then luminance signal 101a and the chrominance signal 101b are compressed and encoded. An encoding signal from the co encoding circuit 3 is separated to the buffer 5a for luminance and the buffer 5b for chrominance and stored. The quantity of generating information counter 6 adds and counts the quantity of encoded information stored in both the buffers 5a, 5b, when the counter value 106 exceeds a prescribed quantity, only the encoding signal 105a for luminance stored in the buffer 5a for luminance is fed to a transmission path. Thereby, the period of the frame drop can be shortened.</p> |
