PURPOSE:To simplify exchanging operations of cartridge by providing integrally a storage means and a receiver for a holder as well as to permit the discharge recovery treatment of recording head without the needs for displacement of a platen and a receiver by using a system in which the platen and receiver are positionally displaced with each other in an interlocking manner to face with a discharge port. CONSTITUTION:When a cartridge 234 is held downwards during recording period, since a fixed wall 245 is not coupled with an opening or closing shaft 241A, platens 203A and 203B are butted with each other and are positioned in the plate to cover an ink absorber 235, where the recording face of the recording medium is regulated in the face of the discharge port of a recording head 101. When cleaning the end face including the discharge port 101b of the head 101, a driver is aptly operated, and the cartridge 234 is pushed upwards by the arm 248B of a cam 248. The shaft 241A is coupled with the fixed wall 245 and the platens 203A and 203B are turned toward the direction of the opening the upside of the ink absorber 235. The ink absorber 235 is then joined with the discharge port of the head 101. Ink adhered to the end face of the discharge port is soon absorbed by the absorber 235, and thereby the recovery of ink discharge by cleaning can be attained. |
