PURPOSE:To simplify operation of a user, by a method wherein recording sheet conveyance passages are independently formed to two sheets in roll, and by detecting that the respective conveyance passages are released, initial setting of only set recording sheets is effected. CONSTITUTION:Two separately set sheets 2 and 3 in roll have their respective independent conveyance passages. Thus, when either the sheet in roll 2 or 3 is replaced or jam processing is effected thereon, even if a conveyance passage for the sheet 2 or 3 is released, the other conveyance passage is left closed. With a given switch made by detecting the recording sheet 2 or 3 form whether the conveyance passage is released or not, initial setting is made only on the set recording sheet 2 or 3. This constitution enables simplification of operation of a user.
