PURPOSE:To obtain an Al material having superior corrosion resistance and the hue of Cr plating by coloring an oxide film formed on the surface of an Al material with a black azo dye under prescribed conditions so as to provide prescribed reflectance and lightness. CONSTITUTION:An anodic oxide film of 0.1-15mum thickness is formed on the surface of an Al material. The film is dyed with an aq. soln. contg. 0.01-30g/l black azo dye or further contg. 0.005-5g/l yellow azo dye at >=30 deg.C in 1sec-15 min and the dyed film is treated to seal the pores. Thus, >=35% reflectance, <=50 lightness L and the color tone of Cr plating are provided.
