PURPOSE:To improve file processing capability by recording a cylinder flag to the final recording of the final track and seeking the first track of the next cylinder after the end of read/write of the said recording when the flag is detected at read/write so as to process the first record continuously. CONSTITUTION:When the final recording RX of the final track (m) of cylinder (m) and the first recording RY of the first track O of the next cylinder (n+1) have logical continuity, the cylinder flag of the recording RX is recorded as logical 1. In reading/writing the information part of the recording RX, when a control circuit 2 recognizes the flag '1', the circuit 2 allows a disk 3 to select the head O of the next cylinder (n+1) after the end of read/write of the RX to keep the read/write to the 1st recording RY. Thus, the seek command to the next cylinder by a host 4 is not required and the performance of the file processing recorded over cylinders is improved.
