PURPOSE:To avoid discoloration of image color tone at pasted portion in bookbinding, by adding at least one member selected from among benzotriazole (deriv.) benzimidazole (deriv.) and Al, Ni, Zn, and Cr salts to a paper adhesive. CONSTITUTION:At least one compd. selected from benzotriazole (deriv.), benzimidazole (deriv.) and Al, Ni, Zn, and Cr salts is added to a paper adhesive comprising, as main components, a polyvinyl acetate emulsion resin, a water-soluble starch adhesive, a water-soluble gum arabic adhesive, etc. Examples of the benzotriazole deriv. include 1-hydroxybenzotriazole. Examples of the benzimidazole deriv. include 6-nitrobenzimidazole. Examples of the Al, Ni, Zn, and Cr salts include AlCl3, NiSO4, zinc chloride and chromium nitrate.
