A process for preparing a fluoroaniline comprises heating at a temperature of from 100‹ to 230‹ C. under a pressure of 15-1500 p.s.i.a. a mixture of anhydrous HF, nitrobenzene, which may be substituted by methyl, chloro or nitro groups, carbon monoxide and a catalyst mixture of at least one palladium or rhodium oxide or halide with at least one oxide of vanadium, molybdenum, tungsten, niobium, chromium and tantalum.
