PURPOSE:To execute the processing in a short time and also by a miniature CPU, by providing three or more search ranges on a concentric circle centering around a collation start reference point, moving successively the reference point t a first inference area and a second inference area, and collating two images. CONSTITUTION:A search of a collation coincidence point is executed, while shifting a collation reference point of a master image to a prescribed range centering around an approximate center point C. When a point for showing a collation rate of >=80% does not exist in a prescribed area of the innermost side, the prescribed area is divided into four blocks, and a search of the inside of a circle (for instance, A2 against a block A1) of the outside of a block in which a prediction coefficient being a distribution of a search point where the collation rate exceeds a prescribed value shows the maximum is executed. When a point for showing the collation rate of >=80% does not exist in the search block A2 of this first inference area, this block is divided into two, and the search is shifted to the second inference area of the outside in which the prediction coefficient is higher. In such a way, the processing can be executed in a short time by using a miniature CPU.
