PURPOSE:To improve the resolution of a detection system by providing transmission parts which are arranged successively on the surface of a moving body so that front end sides and next front end sides are at specific intervals and reception parts which are fixed on the surface of the moving body successively in the arrangement direction of the transmission parts. CONSTITUTION:The transmission parts 3 which are formed on a rotary disk 1 rotating on a rotating shaft and form a circular pattern of position information 2 are arranged successively so that front end sides and front end sides of next transmission parts 3 are at distance l. Reception part support bases 4 arranged for this disk 1 are arranged successively so that reception parts 5 face the transmission parts 3. Then the width of the transmission parts 3 and reception parts 5 is set to (1/2)l. In this case, at least (n) reception parts 5 are arranged so that (m-1)th (m=2, 3,...) front end sides counted from the 1st front end side are positioned as shown by Sm=m.S(1+1/2n), [S=Pl (P=1, 2,...)]; and outputs corresponding to the overlap area facing the transmission parts 3 are obtained.
