PURPOSE:To prevent a vehicle from causing incapability of travelling by detecting abnormalities in a throttle position detecting sensor to exclude a throttle position signal in the case of abnormalities and control a throttle valve so that the opening corresponding to an acceleration signal is obtained. CONSTITUTION:A throttle controller for opening and closing with a drive motor 3 a throttle valve 4 urged to the closing side by a return spring calculates a throttle control signal with a calculating means 1 on the basis of an acceleration signal S1 corresponding to an accelerator operation amount and a signal of a throttle position detecting sensor 5, and controls the drive motor 3 through a drive circuit 2 with said control signal. In this case, an abnormality detecting means 6 is provided to detect abnormalities in the sensor 5. Also, the calculating means 1 is equipped with a controlling means 7 which generates as a throttle control signal a drive panel for generating drive torque parallel to a return force of a return spring in the throttle opening corresponding to an acceleration signal S1 in detecting abnormalities in the sensor 5.
