PURPOSE:To prevent a kick back pressure from being exerted on a master cylinder, by a method wherein a control valve, opened and closed by means of a drive means, is situated between an input oil pressure chamber and a master cylinder, and the drive means reduces the opening of the control valve to a low value or zero with the increase in an oil pressure in an oil pressure chamber communicated to a control chamber. CONSTITUTION:When a modulator 2 performs antilock operation to decrease the volume of an input oil pressure chamber 14, the opening of a control valve 52 is reduced to a low value or zero through a drive means 50 actuated according to an increase in an oil pressure in a control chamber 16, and an oil pressure in the input oil pressure chamber 14 is prevented from being exerted directly on a master cylinder. Besides, although an oil pressure between the input oil pressure chamber 14 and the control valve 52 is increased through the motion of the control valve 52, an oil pressure increased through actuation of an accumulator 53 is accumulated. Thus, an adverse influence is prevented from being exercised on antilock control work effected by means of a modulator 2. Besides, during normal brake, a brake oil pressure from the master cylinder M is fed to the input oil pressure chamber 14 according to the opening of the control valve 52.
