PURPOSE:To simplify a bending structure and to improve operability by tilting a shift lever on the side of an assistant driver's seat which is orthogonal to the direction of a variable speed operation. CONSTITUTION:If the shift lever 1 is shifted to a P range, the shift lever 1 and a cover side guide groove 63 are coincident, and the shift lever 1 comes to a bendable position. If the shift lever 1 is strongly pushed to the side of the assistant driver's seat, a ball 8 in the bottom part of the shift lever is pushed up against a spring 7, climbs over a protruding part and is guided along a retainer side guide groove 93. The shift lever 1 is similarly guided along the cover side guide groove 63, tilts to the side of the assistant driver's seat around the axis X-X of a first axis 2, and is abutted on the bottom surface of the guide groove 63 so as to stop. For returning the shift lever 1 in an original state, the lever 1 is operated along the groove 63 around the axis X-X, and if the ball 8 is set to climb over the protruding part for shifting, the lever 1 can return in the original upright state.
