PURPOSE:To obtain high contrast at a high tilt angle by using a film like material of which the surface energy is specified, as an oriented film, and using a liquid crystal containing the specified quantity of an organic compound of >=8C which becomes a polar compound by heating. CONSTITUTION:The film like material of which surface energy is >=65dyn/cm is used as an oriented film formed on one substrate, and also, a liquid crystal composite containing 0.05-5wt.% of >=8C, for generating a polarizing compound by photoirradiation or heating is used, to form a cell. Thereafter, by executing photoirradiation or heating, the polarizing compound is generated. In such a way, a high tilted angle is obtained, and the angle of torsion of a liquid crystal can be increased, therefore, the liquid crystal display element of the high contrast can be obtained. |
