The crank mechanism which forms the subject of the invention is characterised by these particular novel elements: it includes a crank mechanism 1 with its articulated connecting rod 2 and the spindle 3 of the pedal 4; the spring 5 is offset towards the centre which makes it possible to fit it to standard cranks. At the end of the connecting rod there are placed two screws 6, 7 which allow the adjustment of the length of the crank. A graduation 9 is placed on the crank and allows the length to be adjusted as desired by the user, it being possible for this length to range from 165 to 185 mm approximately. This crank mechanism comprises a square shaft which can be fitted onto all currently manufactured bicycles. <IMAGE>
