DETECTING METHOD OF POSITION AND APPARATUS THEREFOR

PURPOSE:To improve the detection accuracy of positioning while maintaining the highest frequency of an input sine wave, by a method wherein a value counted by a first counting means is interpolated with a smaller count value obtained by a second counting means. CONSTITUTION:Sine waves of phase A and phase B having a phase difference 90 deg. are inputted simultaneously to a 4-fold circuit 12 and 16-fold circuit 13. Incremental/decremental pulses outputted from the 4-fold circuit 12 and the 16-fold 13 are counted by a count circuits 14 and 15 respectively. Simultaneously, a count value of the count circuit 15 is cleared by a count clear circuit 16 synchronously with the incremental/decremental pulses 1 from the 4-fold circuit 12. Detection of position can be executed by latching count values 1 and 2 simultaneously in a count latch circuit in synchronization with a timing of reading these values.
