PURPOSE:To enhance the durability of a belt by a method wherein a tension material, which is made of amorphous metal wires and coated with rubber after the content of the tension material is removed, is wound round the outer peripheral surface of a tubular forming mold and, after that, a belt main body is wound round the outer peripheral side thereof and finally the belt main body is heated under pressure. CONSTITUTION:A canvas 1a is wound round a tubular forming mold 4 and, after that, a tension material 2, which is produced by twisting together amorphous metal wires, is spirally wound round the outer peripheral side of the resultant forming mold. Further, treatments such as degreasing and hot water washing are applied to the amorphous wire in order to remove the oil content adhered to the wire during drawing. The tension material is coated with rubber through adhesive. The rubber-coated tension material 2 is wound round the forming mold 4. Next, a sheet-like belt main body 1 is wound round the outer peripheral surface of the forming mold 4 so as to plastically deform the belt main body 1 by heating it through the circulation of steam into a heating steam circulating hole, and at the same time pressing it from the outer peripheral side by means of a pressurizing means in order to obtain a tubular preformed item. After that, a plurality of transmission belts are manufactured by cutting the preformed item in widths.
