In a combination handle and fixing member 1, 2 for the cleaning head of a washing up mop, the cleaning head, e.g. a sponge, having two opposed working faces, the member 2 is pivotally movable between two limiting positions relative to the handle 1 such that in each limiting position the longitudinal central axis of the handle intersects one or the other of the said two working faces, at least are generally V or U-shaped leaf spring being provided between opposed surfaces of the members 1, 2 to prevent accidental movement of the member 2 from either of its limiting pivotal positions. The illustrated V-shaped leaf spring 5 is loosely mounted, in a depression 1c in the handle 1 and engages either or both of two abutment surfaces 2b on the firing member 2 to hold the latter in either of its two limiting positions or in a middle position aligned with the handle 1. In a further embodiment the firing member is held in its two limiting positions by the engagement of U-shaped leaf spring carried thereby in either of two shallow recesses in the handle 1. Two such U-shaped springs may be provided. |
