The reaction product of a conjugated diene rubber and maleic anhydride having a maleic anhydride content of 2-22% by weight is neutralized by one or more mono- and/or polytertiary amines. The rubber may be polybutadiene, polyisoprene, or butadiene-styrene copolymer. Suitable amines include tetramethyl ethylene diamine, tributylamine, triethylamine and quinoline. The resulting products are elastomeric without needing vulcanization and do not adhere to metal. |
