PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of the turbulence in the water stream around a propelling casing, by constituting the surface of the sensor part of an electromagnetic type current meter so as to form a part of the streamline side surface of the propelling casing. CONSTITUTION:An outboard motor 10 is constituted so that electromagnetic type current meters 26 are provided on both left and right side surface parts of the submerged part of a propelling casing 16. The electromagnetic type current meters 26 are embedded in a mount part 27 made of a synthetic resin having the same streamline shape as the propelling casing 16 and the mount part 27 is fixed to the mount recessed part 28 provided on the casing 16 by a screw 29. The surfaces (electrode parts) of the sensor parts 30L, 30R of the current meter 26 form a part of the streamline side surface of the casing 16 and is inclined at an angle theta with respect to an axial line L-L. By this structure, the turbulence of the water stream around the casing 16 can be prevented. Further, since the output value of the current meter is corrected on the basis of the angle formed with respect to the advance direction of a ship by the water stream flowing along the streamline side surface of the casing, the detection result after correction can certainly display the flow speed of the water stream flowing along the advancing direction of the ship. |
