PURPOSE:To rapidly select dried fruits with care, by a method wherein dried fruits separated from foreign matter having high specific gravity in a liquid cyclone are introduced into a rotary separator having a polygonal pillar-shaped reticulated body from one end thereof to be washed with fresh water from a nozzle and taken out from the other end of said separator. CONSTITUTION:Dried fruits such as raisins are sent to a liquid cyclone 6 along with pressurized jet water from a feeder 2 to separate pebble or sand having high specific gravity mixed with in the fruits. Subsequently, the dried fruits are discharged from the upper part of the liquid cyclone 6 along with water to tumble down along a chute 7 to be separated from water, and only the dried fruits having foreign matter having low specific gravity and the calyx adhered thereto are introduced into a hexagonal rotary separator 8. This separator 8 rotates around a slightly inclined rotary shaft 11, and the dried fruits are washed by the rotation of said shaft 11 and the fresh water injected from a spray nozzle 15 and allowed to collide with the side wall of a hexagonal reticulated body 10. Therefore, the foreign matter adhered to the dried fruits loosened in its bonding strength by pressurized jet water is sifted out and the carefully selected dried fruits gradually advance to a terminal outlet 12.
