PURPOSE:To obtain continuous light pulses by continuing operation in which one part of amplified light pulses acquired by injecting single light pulses to a laser amplifier connected to a current source is projected to the laser amplifier again by a means such as a half mirror. CONSTITUTION:A laser amplifier 101 consists of a Fabry-Perot type semiconductor laser oscillating in 1.3 micron, and is biassed by currents of 0,95 times as large as threshold currents by a current source 102. A light pulse source 103 is composed of a semiconductor laser oscillating in 1.3 micron and an electric circuit directly modulating the semiconductor laser. Single light pulses are injected to the laser amplifier 101 through an optical isolator 104 from the light pulse source 103, amplified and emitted. One part of outgoing beams passes through an optical loop system constituted of half mirrors 105, 106 and total reflection mirrors 107, 108, and is projected to the laser amplifier 101 again. Accordingly, continuous light pulses having the cycling time determined by the optical length of the laser amplifier and a means such as the half mirrors and the rise and fall time decided by the photoelectric conversion time of the laser amplifier are acquired.
