PURPOSE:To culture lactic bacteria advantageously from industrial viewpoint at a remarkably reduced cost for waste water treatment, by adding a carbon source to waste medium left after the culture of lactic bacteria in a liquid medium, adjusting the pH of the waste medium and reusing the medium for the culture. CONSTITUTION:A lactic bacterial strain [e.g. Pediococcus halophilus 1547 (FERM BP-819)] is cultured in a liquid medium and the cultured cells are separated from the medium. The remaining waste medium is added with a carbon source (e.g. glucose) assimilable by the lactic bacteria in an amount of preferably 1w/v%, the pH of the medium is adjusted to a level to enable the growth of the lactic bacteria, preferably to 7pH and the obtained medium is used for the culture of lactic bacteria. |
