PURPOSE:To restrict the volume expansion of a fuel oil as low as feasible to stabilize the fuel injection characteristics by forming a pump mounting casing with aluminum or aluminum alloy as a separate body from a cylinder block, or in some other way. CONSTITUTION:A pump mounting casing 30 is formed with aluminum as a separate body from a cylinder block 1, and is installed beside the cylinder block 1 so as to be properly separated from the side part 1a of the cylinder block 1. By installing the casing 30 in this way, the quantity of heat transfer from the cylinder block side part 1a can be reduced while, by forming the casing 30 with aluminum, the heat radiation from the casing 30 itself is increased, suppressing the rise in temperature of the fuel oil in the casing 30 as low as feasible and, thereby, restricting the reduction in the quantity of discharge of the fuel due to volume expansion. |
