The invention was to design a hydropneumatic suspension with load-controlled damping for vehicles so that, to improve the ride comfort, an automatic increase of the vehicle damping is ensured in the event of additional loading of the vehicle and a reduction of the vehicle damping when the load is relieved. For this purpose a telescopic spring cylinder is connected by way of a pressure medium line to an accumulator, a valve device being provided in the pressure medium line, the valve spool of which comprises two parts, axially movable relative to one another, which permit a control of the extension and compression valves over certain control surfaces and end faces.
