摘要 The present invention relates to an anisotropic, double refracting material, characterised in that this optical material consists of a solid material, the sleeve material, and a large number of inclusions which are embedded therein, are distributed in a spatially random fashion, are aligned in an approximately uniform direction, deviate in their shape from the spherical form, having approximately uniform shape and themselves contain a filler material which is different from the sleeve material in terms of electromagnetic and/or optical properties, the geometric dimensions of the said occlusions being selected such that they are small with respect to one or two of the spatial dimensions and at the same time are large with respect to at least one of the other of the three spatial dimensions, these dimensions being related to the wavelengths of the electromagnetic waves in question here, the said waves themselves being selected from a wavelength range which extends from that of visual light to decimeter waves, and a method for its manufacture. The present invention also relates to devices for transmitting light and/or for changing states of light, the devices being produced entirely or partially from such anisotropic, double-refracting optical material.
