A fuel injection pump of the distributor injection pump type is disclosed having a sleeve valve (17) movably arranged on the pump piston in order to control the outlets (14) of a discharge canal (15) of the pump working area (6). The outlets are controlled via various connecting cross-sections (27, 31) in such a manner that a throttling connecting cross-section (31) first controls a leak section (hl), and not until this occurs does the cross-section (27) completely discharge the pump working area (6).
