PAIRING SYSTEM FOR MAGNETIC HEAD

PURPOSE:To choose a pair of magnetic heads having the same output characteristics with high efficiency by measuring the output characteristics of 1st and 2nd heads in a specific frequency band and selecting the output characteristics distant from the center output characteristic position out of the 1st head against the 2nd head. CONSTITUTION:The output characteristics of plural 1st heads in two frequency bands are measured by a magnetic head measurement processing program 31 of a memory 3 connected to a CPU1 via a bus 2 and stored in a storage area 35. The output characteristic center position of a magnetic head is calculated by an output characteristic center position deciding program 32 and stored for each rank by a magnetic head handling device 7. Then the output characteristics of plural 2nd heads are measured and the 1st heads set within an allowable range are selected based on the measured output characteristics. Then the 1st heads in a rank that is most distant away from the center output characteristic position are defined as a pair of 2nd heads. Thus it is possible to choose a pair of magnetic heads of the same output characteristics with high efficiency and at a high yield.
