PURPOSE:To improve the availability of an optical disk by recording the address information on a sector where a track jump occurs into the control area of the optical disk and controlling the address of the track jump sector. CONSTITUTION:The write gate 104 of a drive 1 sets a laser driving circuit 6 under a record mode and modulates the semiconductor laser of a head 5 with a driving signal 113 sent from an AND circuit 12 to record data to a sector. If a track jump occurs in a recording mode, a track jump signal is produced from a tracking error signal 100 received from a focus control circuit 8. Then a detection signal 101 is outputted from a track detecting circuit 10. The signal 101 sets an FF 11 and a record inhibiting signal is supplied to the circuit 12 to stop recording. An interruption signal driver 19 sends an interruption signal to a CPU 17. The CPU 17 receives the address of the track jump sector from a sector control circuit 16 and informs it to a host CPU 3. Then the CPU 17 writes the address information into the idle sector of a control area by a command given from a CPU 3.
