<p>A lap of e.g. cellulose fibers is pref. formed with long, low density fibres in its border regions and short expanded fibres in its central region, and is pressed between a nip of a roller pair onto a conveyor moving past the nip exit so that it is deposited on the conveyor in a folded zig-zag formation. This produces a fabric having upper and lower layers of long fibres sandwiching a layer of short fibres. Subsequently an adhesive is sprayed onto the fabric and polymerized to produce a flexible envelope around it. The fabric is cheap and simple to manufacture.</p> |
