发明名称 FIBRE-REINFORCED FOAM OR CELLULAR BODIES
摘要 Fibre-reinforced foam bodies, in particular those which have a high fibre content (15-30% by weight or more), are produced by dispersing fibres in a liquid, generally water, together with surfactants and gases or gas- evolving agents, fillers, etc., and, in addition, by adding substances which increase the viscosity of the liquid such that it is not less than 40 cP at least during the foaming stage. If gas-evolving agents or gases which are dissolved in the liquid are used, the foaming process is initiated by adding suitable reagents or by increasing the temperature or decreasing the pressure, with the foaming or foamed mass being transferred to suitable moulds or to a conveyor belt and being dried in order to obtain solid foams bodies, for example for shipment packaging, insulating material, flexible stuffings, etc. Alternatively, the foaming or foamed mass for drying can be applied to paper or other sheets or boards in order to form laminates which can be used as corrugated board, building components, insulating mats, etc. An especially low density and a fine and uniform pore structure can be achieved by mixing into the fibres a suspension which dissolves in the dispersing liquid or is capable of swelling very substantially in this liquid and which, in addition, comprises both extremely hydrophilic and extremely hydrophobic groups.
