Heat treating cast iron components

Process of heat treating alloyed cast iron or cast iron based components having principally pearlitic structure consists of partially austenitising, followed by reducing the temp. to a predetermined transformation level in a gas medium such that under the action of the gas medium and auto-quenching from the interior of the component a bainitic structure is formed.
