PURPOSE:To decrease the number of bubble magnetic domain transfer stages by setting a stretcher entrance where the bubbles received through a read major line are sent to a bubble magnetic domain stretcher at a position distant from the center part of the stretcher by a prescribed distance. CONSTITUTION:The total length of a stretcher 10 is referred to as l with the distance between the left end of the stretcher 10 and an entrance as l1 and the distance between the entrance and the right end of the stretcher 10 as l2. Then the left stretching speed of a stripe head is set at a(mu/stage) against the bubble traveling direction with the right stretching speed set at b(mu/stage) respectively. Thus the number of stretcher stages needed for a period during which the left end of the stripe reaches the left end of the stretcher 10 is defined as etaL=l1/a with the number of stretcher stages defined as etaR=l1/b for the right end of the stripe reaching the right end of the stretcher 10 respectively. The optimum positions of the stretcher entrance are defined with l1/a=l2/b and b/a=6/10-8/10 since etaL=etaR is satisfied. That is, it is desirable to set the entrance of the stretcher 10 at a position shifted to the right by 10+ or -5% from the center part of the stretcher 10.
