<p>A method and apparatus are used for selectively manipulating data with or among computing machines. Graphical (440) and/or sound (450) data is represented in terms of categories and objects. Categories (400) are used to define the characteristics and attributes of an object (410). The interactions (420, 460) of categories determine the synchronization, manipulation, animation and sequencing of an object. Specific interactions between categories are effected (430) through adding, subtracting, multiplying or dividing discrete digital elements of the respective categories. Such discrete digital elements may be extracted from a user waveform (300, 310, 320), or alternatively, obtained from a library of categories (400).</p> |
