PURPOSE:To eliminate seizures of a die, plug, etc., to manufacture a rectangular pipe excellent in accuracy of dimensions by regulating a diameter and thickness of a base pipe of circular pipe within a specified range and by performing a diameter reducing work. CONSTITUTION:In the stage of drawing the base pipe (circular pipe) through the die and plug to manufacture the rectangular pipe, while reducing the diameter, the diameter of the base pipe is set to [(length of a diagonal line of the rectangular pipe)X1.00-1.20]. The thickness of the base pipe is decided to be 20-35% of reduction [1-(sectional area of rectangular pipe/sectional area of base pipe)] and [thickness of base pipe>=thickness of rectangular pipe]. In this way, no seizure is generated and the rectangular pipe excellent in accuracy of dimensions is efficiently manufactured.
