PURPOSE:To improve workability by allowing an optical scanning unit for recording the information to go in and out to and from an opening part provided on the bottom face of a device body, so that the optical scanning unit can be taken in and out without removing internal parts in the device body, even if said unit is provided on the lower part of the device body. CONSTITUTION:In the lower part of a device body provided with a recording medium 32, an optical scanning unit 39 consisting of a semiconductor laser 63, a polygon mirror 38, a lens 40, mirrors 41, 42, a lens 43, etc. is placed. On both side face parts of a unit body 55 of the optical scanning unit 39, L-shaped grooves 56, 57 are formed, and at the time of attaching the unit body 55 to the device body, the unit body 55 is inserted from an opening part formed on the bottom face part of the device body, fitted by aligning the L-shaped grooves 56, 57 with pins 59, 61 of the device body, advanced, and held in the upper and lower directions. Subsequently, in the forward and backward directions, a projecting part 62 of the device body is fitted into a recessed part 58 of the unit body 55, held, and thereafter, fixed with a screw.
