PURPOSE:To obtain a composite metallic sheet having a polychromatic complex surface pattern, by cladding a metallic base layer with a multilayered metallic thin film having various color tones to form a clad material and by subjecting the surface of the metallic thin film of the clad material to chemical partial etching. CONSTITUTION:A metallic base layer is clad with a multilayered metallic thin film consisting of plural kinds of metals including a noble metal and having different color tones to form a clad material. An etching soln. such as a KCN soln. is irregularly dropped or sprinkled on the surface of the thin metallic film of the clad material and the soln. is held for a prescribed time to partially etch the film. Thus, a composite metallic sheet for decoration having a polychromatic complex fine surface pattern is obtd.
