Process for the preparation of N-acylglycines

N-Acylglycines containing any desired acyl radicals per se which are inert in the reaction are prepared from the corresponding hydroxymethylamides or the reaction solution from the reaction of the amides with formaldehyde by carbonylation with carbon monoxide and hydrogen in the presence of cobalt carbonyl compounds.
