PURPOSE:To make handling of pyridine-N-oxide easy in a liquid state as it is, by blending pyridine-N-oxide useful as a raw material for drugs and agricultural chemicals with acetic acid in a fixed ratio and using the phenomenon wherein the melting point of the blend is lower than the melting point of each compound. CONSTITUTION:A weight ratio of pyridine-N-oxide and acetic acid is kept in 90:10-15:85 and pyridine-N-oxide can be transported and stored in a liquid state as it is. Especially paracetic acid is used as an oxidizing agent, pyridine is oxidized to give pyridine-N-oxide, acetic acid prepared as a by-product in the reaction is directly left, a mixture of pyridine-N-oxide and acetic acid in the above-mentioned ratio is obtained and the substance originally solid at normal temperature can be readily handled in a liquid state as it is. In this case, the blending process is not required, only adjustment of blending ratio of both the compounds and removal of impurities are needed.
