PURPOSE:To obtain an electromagnetic actuator capable of working with small coil magnetomotive force by providing a movable iron core which becomes a parallel magnetic path to the attraction part of a movable plunger for the magnetization of a permanent magnet while becoming a serial magnetic path to the attraction part of the movable plunger for coil magnetization. CONSTITUTION:When a current is conducted to a coil 19 in the direction negating magnetic flux of the attraction part 21, said magnetization force increases magnetic flux passing through a movable iron core 22. As a result, the movable iron core 22 is attracted and the density of the flux of a permanent magnet 18 passing through the attraction part 21 of a movable plunger 20 sharply decreases so as to come to repelling state with each other. When a current is conducted to the coil 19 in the direction to negate magnetic flux of the movable iron core 22, the attraction coercive force of the movable iron core 22 drops so as to put both movable parts in repelling to each other. Accordingly, reluctance as observed from the coil 19 is decreased so that an amount of electricity to be sent to the coil 19 can be by so much reduced thereby the reduction in power supply can be realized.
