PURPOSE:To improve the gradation reproducing characteristic at a low density and a high density region of an input level by obtaining a residual error from the total sum of a binarization error and a shared error arrangement and rearranging the result as a residual arrangement value in arranging the binarization error of a noted picture element with respect to circumferential picture elements. CONSTITUTION:The titled processor is provided with an error arrangement value arithmetic means 110, an arrangement coefficient generating means 111, an error revision means 112, a residual error arithmetic means 113 and an arrangement arithmetic means 114. Then the residual error being a difference between the binarization error and the total sum of the error arranged values of a noted picture element with respect to the circumferential picture elements is rearranged and corrected into the error arrangement value of the circumferential picture elements of the noted picture element corresponding to unprocessed picture elements. Thus, the binarization error and the total sum of the error arranged value of circumferential picture elements are made coincident with each other, the gradation reproducing characteristic of the low and high density regions of the input level is improved and no moire pattern is generated.
