摘要 PURPOSE:To make it possible to turn ON optical bistable operation even with very weak input light, to drive a device with the very weak input light purely optically and to make it possible to drive the device suitably for the integration of low input-light intensities without losses in optoelectronic and electrooptic trnasduder actions, by superimposing bias light on the input light, and turning ON/OFF the bias light. CONSTITUTION:Input light intensity PIN is obtained by superimposing bias light intensity B and signal light intensity Psig through a half mirror 4 or a wave combiner such as a coupler. On the PIN-POUT graph, the signal light intensity Psig is superimposed on the BON, where BON and BOFF are the ON/OFF intensities of the bias light intensity B. BON and Psig are selected at levels, where the output light POUT can undergo transition to a high level. When the output light undergoes transition to the high level, this state can be heled without the input light PIN. The level of the BOFF is selected so that the optical bistable state can be recovered to the initial low level with the OFF intensity BOFF of the bias light. Thus the light output can be turned ON/OFF with the very weak input light, and the amplification effect is obtained.
