New derivatives of theophylline are described, which have the general formula: <CHEM> in which R is selected from the group consisting of 2'-(1'-oxy-1', 3'-dithiolanyl), 2'-(1', 3'-dithiolanyl) and 2'-(1',3'-dithianyl), possibly substituted in position 4'. The derivatives have high antibronchospastic, antitussive and mucolytic activities.
