PURPOSE:To concentrate the waste photographic processing soln. while sup pressing the generation of ammonia and hydrogen sulfide, by heating the upper part of the soln. to form a temp. difference between the upper and lower parts of the soln. at the time of heating and evaporating the soln. under reduced pressure. CONSTITUTION:The waste photographic processing solns. from the color developing vessel CD, bleaching fixing vessel BF, and stabilizing vessel SD constituting an automatic developing machine 100 are collected in a storage tank 104, and then introduced into an evaporator 1. A heating means 3 is provided approximately in the middle of the evaporation kettle 2 of the evaporator 1. A vapor discharge port is furnished above the evaporation kettle 2, and connected to a cooling means 6 and a pressure reducing means 7. The soln. is heated under reduced pressure so that the temp. difference between the upper part and the bottom part is controlled to >=5 deg.C, and evaporation and precipitation of the solute in the photographic processing soln. are carried out. When processing is carried out under such conditions, development of malodor is suppressed, and the processing time is not prolonged as well.
