PURPOSE:To obtain a psychological chromaticity corresponding to a color sensed psycologically to be equal to a concrete object on a color television picture by a person by using the photometric chromaticity of the concrete object on the picture. CONSTITUTION:The light having the photometric charamoticity to a green region on the xy chromaticity coordinate on the picture of a color television reception tube 1 and radiated from a familiar concrete object passes through a lens 2 and is made incident on a light receiving section 3. The light receiving section 3 consists of three kinds of filters having the spectral transmittivity of color functions x(lambda), y(lambda) and z(lambda). An electric signal corresponding to the photometric chromaticity (x, y) of the concrete object of a photoelectric conversion section 4 is obtained form a light passing through the light receiving section 3. The relation of the concrete object between the photometric chromaticity (x, y) and the psychological chromaticity (x(psy), y(psy)) is expressed as x(psy)=x-0.03 and y(psy)=y+0.13. Thus, a value corresponding to the psychological chromaticity expressed in equation is calculated from an output signal from the photoelectric conversion section 4 by a function arithmetic unit 5 and the output of the function arithmetic unit 5 is displayed on a display section 6.
