PURPOSE:To obtain a resin composition having extremely low birefringence, high light-transmittance, mechanical strength and heat-resistance, causing little warpage by water-absorption and suitable as a base for optical recording medium, by compounding a specific polyether resin with a styrene polymer at a specific ratio. CONSTITUTION:The objective resin composition can be produced by compounding (A) 5-95wt.% (preferably 20-80wt.%) polyether resin having recurring unit of formula I and/or formula III (R1 is group of formula II, O, S, etc.; R3 and R4 are <=12C alkyl, aryl, etc.; R5 is <=12C alkylene, etc.; R2 is R3, alkylcarbonyl, H, etc.; X1-X4 are H, F, Cl, etc.) with (B) 95-5wt.% (preferably 80-20wt.%) styrene polymer having recurring unit of formula IV (R6 is H, F, etc.; R7 is H, F, etc.) and/or recurring unit of formula V (R9 and R10 are H, F, etc.). |
