PURPOSE:To quickly execute an optimum reproduction by controlling a reproducing position, based on stored position information, at the time of reproducing a track, by storing an optimum reproducing position of the track on a medium. CONSTITUTION:The titled device is provided with reproducing means (head 1, reproducing amplifier 9) for reproducing a signal recorded in each track on a medium, detecting means (detecting circuit 17, A/D converter 18 and CPU 5) for detecting an optimum reproducing position of each track in accordance with a reproducing output of the reproducing means, and a storage means (memory 21) for storing a position detected by the detecting means. In such a way, an optimum reproducing position of each track detected by the detecting means is stored in the storage means, and an optimum reproduction can be executed quickly.
