PURPOSE:To prevent abnormal combustion from taking place in advance, by detecting combustion interruption of a burner following mis-fire of a reforming unit burner etc., by means of a combustion detecting means and controlling an output current of a cell in its increasing direction, on the pasis of a signal from the detecting means. CONSTITUTION:When the burner lb of a reforming unit 1 is subjected to mis-fire, a flame sensor 10 detects the state of interrupted combustion of a burner, a litter later than the generation of mis-fire. Then, a control unit 11 quickly increases the output current of a fuel cell 2 via an electric current regulator 3. Meanwhile, althrough the reforming unit 1 maintains formation of a reformed gas quantity for a while after generation of mis-fire on account of a delay of response, the quantity of discharged off gas is rapidly reduced because the consumprtion of reformed gas inside a cell 2 is increased in proportion to an increase in electric current. In this case, the most of the composition of off gas changes into an in combustible gas mainly containing carbon dioxide. Therefore, the state of any abnormal combustion accompanied by a danger can be prevented in advance. |
