PURPOSE:To prepare an abrasive coating material which does not cause gelatin, by using zirconia beads as dispersant beads. CONSTITUTION:In processing an abrasive into a coating material by the ball mill method using an alumina abrasive and an NC resin which is used for an improved dispersibility, zirconia beads which are nonferrous beads having a great specific gravity and superior in abrasion resistance are herein utilized as dispersant beads. Heretofore, steel beads have been used in producing an abrasive coating material of this kind, whereas there has been a problem in that if an NC resin is used as a binder, the resultant product will be inferior in dispersibility and apt to gel. By using zirconia beads, it becomes possible to produce an abrasive paste which will never gel.
