1275292 Vehicle frames K H SCHMIDT 31 July 1969 [31 July 1968] 38520/69 Heading B7D [Also in Division B8] A hollow vehicle frame, e.g. for a travelling crane, comprises longitudinal plates forming a body of generally inverted U-shape (Fig. 4), including an assembly 13 of oblique plates providing reinforcement in the region of greatest stress, the assembly defining a polygonal space 14 in plan whose area increases from lower plate 8 to upper plate 7. Longitudinal trusses 9, 10 may be provided. The frame may be divided by bulkheads 18 into internal compartments. A bearing ring for supporting a crane is supported around the space 14 (Fig. 2(b), not shown). The greatest dimension of the space 14 may exceed the transverse dimension of the frame body (Fig. 5, not shown). Lateral stays may be pivoted to the frame.
